'WandaVision' Recap and Finale
"WandaVision" has come to a close, after just 9 weeks. Some started off hesitant towards the show, and others fully embraced it. But, either way, I think it left a pretty good impact on it's viewers and the future of Marvel TV. Luckily, we do not have to wait long at all for the next Marvel show to come our way. Falcon and the Winter Soldier comes out March 19th.
Overview:
'WandaVision' gave us something we never knew we wanted. Superhero sitcoms. And they did it in a way that enhanced the overarching story of the MCU. I don't know about you, but I would love to see a sitcom with Batman and Superman after watching this show. It would just be fresh and hopefully funny.
After 9 episodes, we have now been through our first MCU TV show experience. And from here on out, Marvel seems to be going full throttle. They have content mapped out for nearly every week this year. If it can match the level of creativity and story telling that 'WandaVision' did, then I think we will be in for one awesome ride.
Payoffs:
One of the biggest things that 'WandaVision' gave its audience was payoffs. Yes, there may be a few things left unsettled. But, having questions left over can be good because it sets up a future for the story.
'WandaVision' really did give us more closure and background to characters that seemed to be just background characters. Now that they got their moment to shine, they lit it up. We got to see character returns like, Captain Woo, Darcey, and Monica Rambeau. And we got to grow to love them more too. I would even be sold on an X Files type of show with Woo and Monica.
The ultimate payoff of the show were Vision's restoration (White Vision that is). And the revelation of the Scarlett Witch. We now have seen these characters come into their own and dawn new looks. Vision may be able to return fully in the near future. But hopefully it is not to late to save Wanda fro the dark path she has set herself on after the closing. I have a feeling we will be seeing both characters pretty heavily in the upcoming Dr. Strange movie.
Future:
'WandaVision' set up a hopeful future... at least for us. Wanda's future seems pretty bleak right now. But, this show has set them up for a grander story. One that can be shown on the big screen. Wanda will return for Dr. Strange. And as I stated earlier, I have a strong feeling Vision will as well.
These characters have come out of the background and can now hold their own in the spotlight, center stage. Quicksilver from the X-Men universe may have been a red herring in the end. But, I do not think his story is over quite yet. Marvel tends to listen to its fan base. And Quicksilver is a fan favorite by many. I believe it is only a matter of time until we see Quicksilver again and even the new X-Men.
Review:
In terms of my opinion on the show; I loved every moment. This show as new and fresh. But, it still reminded me of why I love Marvel so much. Overall, I left this series surprised and satisfied. Marvel did a much better job than I anticipated. But, that tends to be what they do. If anything, this show has made me 10x more excited for what is to come. Marvel is back! And I could not be happier.
Thanks for reading. Have a great week!
